It’s been another busy week of exploring, creating, and coming together to learn: grade 7 high school course selection workshop, drumbeats in the Learning Lab, Div. 15 Floating Boats Challenge, and an Aboriginal presentation, by storyteller Ralph Leon, “Xwets’lama!”
Grade Ones and Twos celebrate their 100th Day with hands-on station activities, to mention a few, bringing all core competencies of learning into play: communicating ideas, thinking both creatively and critically, and behaving in socially responsible ways.
More 100 day photos . . . exploring the concept of 100 and sharing “thinking-outside-of-the box” 100 day projects.
FINE ARTS PERFORMANCE: Celebrating the Hoop Dance
This past Wednesday, Cambridge enjoyed a dynamic, inspirational, and interactive performance by Teddy Anderson. Teddy Anderson is a professional Hoop Dancer that has performed all over the world.
This amazing performance included: a First Nations’ prayer, a song on the native flute, detailed stories and explanations behind each dance in line with messages of respect for all people, ending with an audience participatory hoop dance. Be sure to ask your child about this heartwarming, inclusive, and deeply moving performance. Teddy dances with up to 30 hoops at one time to share a message of unity, fellowship and peace. Thank you Teddy Anderson and our PAC for making this happen.
The four colours of the hoops represent the four colours of people in the world; the circle of the hoops represent everything in life. Teddy spoke eloquently as to how we are all part of a balance, honouring the unity of one world in which we are all connected. Here is a part of Teddy’s final hoop dance as he skillfully handles 30 hoops.
Near the end of the performance, a number of students were invited to put their hoop dancing skills into action. Not an easy task.

I first want to acknowledge and thank all students who auditioned and shared their talents. Over 90 auditions from kindergarten to grade 7 were conducted. Congratulations to all!
After the many auditions, selection process, and rehearsals, Cambridge’s Talent Show was another spectacular presentation, showcasing the amazing talents of Cambridge’s students. Students, staff, and parents were entertained by a magician, ventriloquist, stand up comic, rock ‘n roll guitarist, drummer, and violinists, and a variety of dancers and pianists. Thank you to our student emcees, Taylan, Aiden, and Simon, who brought it all together, our grade seven stage and sound crews, and our organizing teachers, Ms. Padam, Ms. S. Sharda, Ms. P. Sharda, Ms, Hayes, and Ms. Palak. A job well done! Bravo!
Behind and before the show: stage crew, pianists, performers, and organizing teachers.
And what a spectacular show it was!
Ms. Vogstad captured every performance on video and Mr. Nelson is working on a full video presentation. Stay tune for the link. Here is a peek of the finale, where all performers, crew, students, parents, and teachers, came together and rocked the house to “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”

Running Club will begin after our Spring Break, March 27th and continue until April 28th. Your child brought home a yellow Running Club notice last week. If your child wants to participate in Cambridge’s after school Running Club, please fill out the form and send it back to school. And, from our blog post archive, here is a look back at a past Running Club video, created by our former principal, Mr. Vendramin.
PAC NEWS: Bake Sale, March 8th
PAC Bake Sale is on Wednesday, March 8th. Please bring your baking donations (no nuts) to the Learning Lab on Tuesday afternoon student pickup, or Wednesday morning student drop off. Thank you for your support!
VIDEO OF THE WEEK: What a Wonderful World
