Last week we had our DROP BUDDY program in action as grade 4/5 students dressed in bright vests and red hardhats flooded the morning drop off area in front of the school to provide “concierge service” for parents of students in grades K-3. We encourage all parents of young children to utilize this service so you do not leave your vehicle unattended in the DROP OFF ZONE. We appreciate the following feedback from a member of our community:
Cambridge Elementary is currently involved with a Canada wide BATTERY BLITZ and this is our final week. The challenge is to bring in any used batteries to the school that might be destined for the BLACK garbage bin or BLUE recycling bin so that they can be properly recycled into new products. The winning school, by total weight of all batteries, will win a pizza party. If you have batteries for disposal, please send them with your child and they can be dropped of at the office in special boxes. Thank you to those families that have already dropped of kilograms and kilograms of used batteries.
On September 28th, Cambridge staff and students dressed in a sea of Orange to honour and recognize the experience of survivors of Indian residential schools, and to show a collective commitment to ensure that every child matters. Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools, and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.
TERRY FOX RUN
On Friday afternoon, the sun was shining and Cambridge staff, students and some parents participated in the annual Terry Fox Run. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers for putting on a safety vest and cheering on our students along the route. There is still time to bring in a “TOONIE FOR TERRY” and all proceeds will be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation.
