MORNING DROP OFF BUDDIES IN ACTION

Last week we had our DROP BUDDY program in action as grade 4/5 students dressed in bright vests and red hardhats flooded the morning drop off area in front of the school to provide “concierge service” for parents of students in grades K-3. We encourage all parents of young children to utilize this service so you do not leave your vehicle unattended in the DROP OFF ZONE. EARTH RANGERS – BATTERY BLITZ FINAL WEEK

Screen Shot 2018-09-23 at 2.00.45 PMCambridge Elementary is currently involved with a Canada wide BATTERY BLITZ and this is our final week. The challenge is to bring in any used batteries to the school that might be destined for the BLACK garbage bin or BLUE recycling bin so that they can be properly recycled into newMVIMG_20180921_134017 products. The winning school, by total weight of all batteries, will win a pizza party. If you have batteries for disposal, please send them with your child and they can be dropped of at the office in special boxes. Thank you to those families that have already dropped of kilograms and kilograms of used batteries.

Every-Child-MattersOn September 28th, Cambridge staff and students dressed in a sea of Orange to honour and recognize the experience of survivors of Indian residential schools, and to show a collective commitment to ensure that every child matters. Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools, and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.

Rec - Terry Fox Run - Page ThumbnailOn Friday afternoon, the sun was shining and Cambridge staff, students and some parents participated in the annual Terry Fox Run. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers for putting on a safety vest and cheering on our students along the route. There is still time to bring in a “TOONIE FOR TERRY” and all proceeds will be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation.

  • Booster juice order deadline is tonight. No late orders can be accepted. Order online at Cambridgepac.hotlunches.net Password is CEHL and everyone must reregister.
  • Fresh Street lunch is tomorrow for those who have ordered.
  • Thank you to everyone who came out to the Welcome Pizza Party and Meet the Teacher. A huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers! Thank you to Liz and Greg of MacDonald Realty for sponsoring the bouncy obstacle, which was a highlight of the evening for the kids!

PAC Class Parent Communication:

A bright orange notice went home in the Welcome PAC package asking for your contact info so you can receive info about PAC events via email. Please take a moment to fill it out and send it back to your child’s teacher asap!

Fundraising!!!

Entertainment books will be coming home Monday or Tuesday! Each student will receive one book to sell for $30. The Playground addition fund will receive $12 for each sale! There are prizes for individual book sales and top selling class. There is no limit to how many books you can sell!

A scratch card fundraising booklet will be coming home with your child this week too. Instructions are enclosed! Hit up all the relatives around the Thanksgiving dinner table!!

The catalogues for wrapping paper fundraiser went home last week. Orders are due by October 26 and delivery will be the week of November 26.

We realize we are doing multiple fundraisers at the same time. Please support what works for you and your family. We appreciate all of your support!

Next PAC Meeting

Next PAC Meeting is Wed October 10 at 6:30pm. There will be a vote on the gaming budget and a special presentation on Social and Emotional Learning. Please join us! Childcare is provided.

Thank you to Ms. Pomonis and Ms. Bomford for organizing our Cross Country team this year. They had their first meet at Crescent Park last Thursday and it was an afternoon filled with smiles and sunshine.
