CAMBRIDGE ALL-STARS IS OUR NEW NAME

Students, staff and our community were given an opportunity to provide input on updating our logo and CAMBRIDGE ALL-STARS came out on top. Students voted 55% for ALL-STARS, 25% for STARS, and 20% for COMETS, and our classroom teachers voted 60% for ALL-STARS, 30% for STARS, and 10% for COMETS. Feedback from our community was 58% for STARS, 33% for ALL-STARS and 8% for COMETS. Thank you to everyone who participated and provided feedback during our process.

Students will now be given an opportunity to suggest an idea for our new CAMBRIDGE ALL-STARS logo this coming week. All students are invited to design a new logo and submit it to the office before Thursday, May 3rd.

TRACK & FIELD SCHEDULE – UPDATED SCHEDULE 

Kids-RunningTrack & Field season at Cambridge began last week, but a couple of changes were made to the practice schedule. Teachers will be holding practices according to the schedule below to expose students to the various Track & Field events. Under the TRACK category, students can participate in sprints, relays and long distance running. Within the FIELD category, students can join shot put, discus, long jump, triple jump, and high jump.

A big thank you in advance to all of the Cambridge staff members and parent volunteers that work together to develop skills and help organize students for the mini meet on May 22nd and the district Track meet on June 6th. A special thank you to Ms. Steeves for overseeing the practice schedule and supporting the different coaches.

GRADE 5-7 HIP HOP PROGRAM PERFORMANCES

It_s ShowtimeStudent in grades 5-7 have been actively and enthusiastically learning a Hip Hop routine that they are dying to show you. Mickee and Kevin have been their instructors during the program and both dancers have worked their magic to bring out the best in our Cambridge students. The whole school will get a chance to see the performances on Tuesday morning and then it is show time for the adults.

Parents/Guardians of gr. 5-7 students are invited to one of two shows. There will be an afternoon show  for adults on Tuesday, May 1st from 1:10pm to 2:20pm and an evening performance from 6:30pm to 7:45pm.  Only two tickets will be provided per child in grades 5-7 for either the afternoon or evening performance.

Please ensure that you send the orange ticket order form back tot he office by tomorrow to receive your seats.

A special thank you to the PAC for supporting and funding this wonderful opportunity for our gr. 5-7 students.

Monday is McDonald’s hot lunch. If you ordered please ensure you have sent a recess snack.

Monday is the last day to order Chopped Leaf for Tuesday May 8 Hot lunch. We have added a veggie ranch wrap as an additional vegetarian choice. 

The raffle fundraiser’s deadline is Tuesday May 1. Get your orders in by after school on Tuesday. Tickets will come home with your child on Wednesday. The draw will be at 8pm on Thursday May 3 at the Spring Fling. There will be tickets to purchase at the dance if the are any left after Tuesday’s deadline.

Ordering for a Medium pizza from Domino’s to enjoy at the dance on Thursday has been extended until Wednesday night. Place your order on cambridgepac.hotlunches.net

The Spring Fling is on Thursday from 6-8 in the school gym. Reminder that parents must attend as this is not a drop off event. We will have a concession, 50/50 raffle, $2 photo booth pictures (Thank you to Liz and Greg of MacDonald Realty for sponsoring the photo booth). There is no ticket required to come to the dance but we are asking for cash donations for the Surrey Food Bank. The food bank can use cash to buy food they need the most at 3-1 buying power.
