Cambridge Elementary would like to remind all parents that drop off and pick up times are very busy if you choose to drive your child to the front doors of the school. It is much less stressful if you drop off your child 10 or 15 minutes before the 8:30am bell as the traffic is very light and there are school staff on supervision. At the end of the day, there is supervision by school staff from 2:25 – 2:40pm and waiting five or ten minutes to pick up your child will allow you a much quicker transit through the school parking lot.
It is not permitted to leave vehicles unattended in the YELLOW zones in front of the school. If you must leave your vehicle, please ensure that happens in a GREEN ZONE. Parking in the STAFF PARKING LOT is not permitted.
Just a reminder that everyone needs to do their part and if you absolutely need to park and leave your vehicle unattended, please do so OFF SCHOOL GROUNDS according to the following map and use the cross walk to accompany your child to the main school building. Visitor parking is extremely limited on Cambridge grounds and the staff parking lot & the handicapped parking areas are only for authorized use. Finally, please be considerate of our neighbours and do not park illegally at the Nature’s Walk townhouse complex across the street from Cambridge on 150th (or any other complex). It has been reported to our office staff that some parents park on the street in the middle of the road way (dangerous as it’s a narrow road), and sometimes they park in a visitor’s spot which is equally inappropriate since they are not visitors. Thank you for your cooperation.
Last week, our school Running Club began with great fanfare and then the rain took over. The week ended with a high level of participation as the sun peaked out just in time for the weekend. Our students are a hearty bunch and will run through just about any weather, but occasionally Running Club will be cancelled due to “unsportsmanlike conditions” (ex. freezing rain, snow or monsoon like conditions). When this does happen, a message will be sent out through social media (Twitter, Facebook, CambridgeLearns.com, and on our school web site) by 2pm. Thank you in advance to all of the staff & parents/guardians who volunteer their time to support the Running Club.
The Surrey School District has a number of excellent digital resources that are available to families to support learning at home. Below you can find a variety of prompts that will help support meaningful conversations with your child about their learning and two links to various resources available to all Surrey School District students.
