On Wednesday, February 28th Cambridge students are dressing up in PINK to raise awareness about bullying. This year, the theme is “Nice Needs No Filters“, and schools throughout the province are supporting students and raising awareness to help, “combat cyberbullying by thinking twice before posting something negative, and instead using the internet to spread kindness.” We encourage all students to visit the web site above and dress up in something pink on Wednesday.
Cambridge Elementary has been working with a graphic artist and sports uniform company to update the Comets sports jersey logo and two logos have been presented to us. A huge thank you goes out to the PAC for agreeing to fund the updating of our logo and the purchase of a new generation of jerseys to support our various school teams.
Students are encouraged to bring out their artistic talents and help us come up with a final design. If interested, students need to draw up a new logo for our school that includes our school name, COMETS, and a logo design that pulls it all together. All submission need to be sent to the office by March 16th. Don’t forget to add your name and division.
If you happened to be near the gym on Friday you would have heard the sounds of kids cheering and clapping, a basketball being dribbled up and down the court, and the “tweet” of the referee’s whistle. As the snow outside blanketed the Cambridge school grounds, our Grade 6 classes (and some Grade 5’s from the combined classes) participated in the first annual Cambridge Cup. This basketball mini tournament offered an opportunity for the students to have fun in a team and develop basketball skills. Teachers commented that the overall sportsmanship from each team was outstanding. One student shared that; “it was such a fun way to spend a snowy Friday at school”. Congratulations to all the teams and especially to “The Right Angles” who earned the Cambridge Cup with their hard work and dedication. See you at the Cambridge Cup next year!
Tomorrow is Subway hot lunch for those who ordered. Please remember to pack snacks for recess time. Currently we only have 2 parent volunteers to deliver the 270 orders. If you can help from 11-12 please email email@example.com If you need to bring your younger preschool child that is totally fine!
The Purdy Chocolate fundraising catalogues have gone home with your children. Due to the large number of students there are individual order codes for each division. For families with mulitiple children at Cambridge please just order from one division as it will help in the sorting and pick up process. The last day to order is March 4. Orders can be placed online or with the paper form submitted to school along with a cash or cheque (Cambridge PAC). Feel free to email the PAC Exec team with any questions.
The rescheduled PAC meeting date is Wednesday March 7 at 6:30. There will be a playground equipment update as well as a vote on spending PAC funds. Please join us!! There is child minding available.
Thanks! Jaime, Allyson, Taryn and Miriam
