Last week, a small, inner-city school in North Surrey reached out to the larger school district community for support. Staff had noticed that many of their families were unable to provide their children with appropriate clothing for the winter weather. In response to this need in their community, CAMBRIDGE LEADERSHIP STUDENTS ARE ORGANIZING A WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE FROM NOVEMBER 14-17 in hopes that Cambridge families can donate Fall clothes (hats, gloves, coats, winter boots, rain coats and boots, umbrellas). Basically, anything that provides warmth and helps students stay dry would be appreciated.
We encourage you to look through your closets and donate items that your children have grown out of or are no longer using. The items do not have to be new and sizes for grades K-7 are needed. Please bring washed items to school in a bag any day this week and drop them off at the office.
In addition, we have many unclaimed items in our LOST & FOUND. Please take a look through the bins this week which can be found near the primary kitchen area. All appropriate items will be donated to the clothing drive if not claimed by Friday, November 17th.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Last Thursday, students and staff participated in two thoughtful Remembrance Day assemblies. Due to our school size, classrooms are organized into an EVEN and ODD division numbered assembly. The assemblies were MC’ed by grade 6 students and included a choir performance from the K & grade 1 students and the grade 3 & 4 students. Ms. Yoo’s grade 5 class also shared a touching video presentation of them singing Hallelujah which is shared below. Students from each class created a Remembrance Wreath that were attached to the gym wall following our moment of silence.
Thank you to the parents/guardians, and other family members who joined us for the morning to help pay our respects to those who have sacrificed so much for the freedoms we enjoy today.
