- QUOTE OF THE WEEK
On Friday, October 13th, Cambridge Elementary hosted its 4th annual Cardboard Challenge which was inspired by Caine, a young boy from East Los Angeles who captured the world’s attention by building a complete arcade using imagination and cardboard. This year, the creativity was mind blowing and students had loads of fun interacting with many of the projects during the afternoon gallery walk. Thank you to all of the parents/guardians who gathered cardboard, brainstormed creative projects and in some cases, helped build elaborate innovations with their children.
Walk/Roll to School Week (October 16-20, 2017) is a City of Surrey initiative and many elementary schools across the district are to participating. All Cambridge Elementary students are encouraged to dress for the weather and walk, cycle, and scooter to school with friends & families all week. Each classroom will keep a tally and each day we will share our results.
Walking and cycling to school builds regular physical activity into the daily routine, helps to decrease traffic congestion around Cambridge Elementary, increases concentration and learning outcomes at school, builds community and provides a strong foundation for lifelong walking, cycling and transit transportation lifestyles. (City of Surrey)
Entertainment book totals will be posted this week. All prizes should be delivered this week as well. If you haven’t returned your book, please do so as soon as possible.
The Annual Creatures of Cambridge Dance will take place on Thursday, October 19th from 6pm-8pm. This event is for all families of Cambridge. Parents, grandparents, siblings all are welcome to come and dress up and have a great time with all their friends. Admission is free, but we do ask that you bring a donation for the food bank. There will be a photobooth, concession, and DJ! Costumes are encouraged!
