Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday all Surrey schools were closed for Snow Days. A big thank you to our wonderful custodians, John and Alvaro, who worked hard shovelling snow and clearing pathways for the return of our students. THANK YOU!
Ms. Vogstad and Mr. Nelson were out shovelling as well.
Wednesday and Friday we welcomed students back to school. Many enjoyed their snowy recess and lunch play times.
We know it when we feel it – school spirit! Here at Cambridge teachers, students, and parents work together to build a school community that is welcoming, warm, and productive. As we continue throughout the year to build our school spirit, our goal is to help students feel valued as individuals, and also to feel part of something greater than themselves. This is no easy task; every school experiences daily challenges, but a “we’re-all-in-this-together” spirit can go a long way to help a school work through these challenges. Our monthly assemblies, school-wide Challenge Days, school blog, and Spirit Days are examples of how we build Cambridge’s school spirit. Studies show that when school spirit is high, students’ attendance improves, students’ academic achievement improves, and students’ personal well-being and health improves. This week at Cambridge, teachers and students enjoyed two Spirit Days.
Multiples Day! Can you pick out the “real” twins?
Retro Day! Can you name the look from the past?
Let’s continue to work together to build our school spirit!
This week District Principal, Mr. Vendramin, shared a tweet on Social Media about the “Fist-Bump Kid”:
After watching the Youtube video about Liam Fitzgerald and how he became the Boston Bruins hockey team’s biggest fan, I thought I’d share it with you, our Cambridge families. This is an extraordinary story of a young boy whose amazing spirit of joy, strength, and imagination is celebrated around the world. Enjoy!
