DROP-OFF BUDDY WEDNESDAY
Our first DROP-OFF BUDDY WEDNESDAY last week was a great success! These awesome student leaders have offered to arrive at school early and wait along the drop-off and take your K-2 child to class so that you do not need to park illegally at the front of the school. We will gradually add more days after Spring Break. In the meantime, look for our DROP-OFF BUDDIES again this Wednesday!

SEXUAL HEALTH EDUCATION SESSIONS THIS WEEK
Parents, YOU ARE INVITED to an evening information session, this Monday, March 7th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Cambridge. The session will deal with the following topics:
- Reasons why we need to talk to children about sexual health at a young age
- 5 stages of sexual development children progress through on their way to becoming sexually mature adults
- What children should know at each stage, with specific examples of ways to explain body parts and processes
- How to provide information to children in a way they will understand and remember (and minimize embarrassment for the parent!)
- How to effectively answer the questions children ask
- How to reduce risk of child sexual abuse
- What will be covered in Body Science sessions for students
During these open and informational sessions, children and parents alike will come to terms with sexual health, and understand how it fits into their world at this stage of their lives.
The next day, students will participate in an age-appropriate workshop. Children learn how their bodies change, and what those changes mean.
Parents will discover how to easily overcome embarrassment when talking about sexual health, learn words and concepts that are easy to use, and leave well equipped to clearly answer the myriad of questions all children are sure to ask.
The workshops are light hearted, but deliver straight and current facts on how parents and children can work together to promote good decisions for a lifetime.
TALENT SHOW – A VIDEO LOOK_BACK
Our 2016 Talent Show was entertaining and a huge success! Thank you to all the students who shared their talents with us, and special thanks to Mrs. Jennings, Mrs. Padam, Ms. S. Sharda, Ms. P. Sharda, and our many student leaders for all your efforts into making the event a success!
The Colossal Cambridge Garage sale takes place Thursday, March 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. If you plan to do some Spring cleaning over the break, please set aside those NEW or GENTLY USED items you no longer have use for and plan to get rid of. Our Grade 7 students will happily take those items off your hands and sell them at this event. ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TOWARDS OUR YEAR-END GRADE 7 EVENTS.
Other stuff you should know:
- CASH and CHEQUES will be accepted. Please make cheques out to “Cambridge Elementary School”
- Please only donate CLEAN, WORKING items
- No clothing please
- If possible, drop off items at the school the first two days AFTER Spring Break: Tuesday, March 29 and Wednesday, March 30. Items can be dropped off at the basketball court at the south side of the school
- The garage sale is open all day so please DO stop buy and do some shopping
- Items not sold will be donated to charity. If you are able to assist with the transportation of these materials on the morning of April 1, please give the office a call to let us know (604)595-4036
Thank you in advance for your support!
Cambridge students have another great opportunity to learn a new sport, have fun, and stay active. Badminton is a quick-paced game that people of all ages can play. Many thanks to the teachers and parents who have offered to dedicate their time to sponsoring badminton. If your child is in grades 5-7, they should have brought home a permission form by now. If your child has not and is still interested in participating, please contact the office.
