Hiking with Pip to the top of Alouette Mountain.

It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the 2015-16 school year at Cambridge Elementary. I hope that you and your family have had many opportunities for fun, relaxation, and to form life-long memories together.

I have spent as much time as possible enjoying the great outdoors by doing as much camping and hiking as possible.

The first day of school is fast approaching on Tuesday, September 8th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. During that time, teachers will meet with students in grade groups and confirm numbers so that we can move forward with the process of forming classes. While students are with teachers, ALL PARENTS are welcome to join us for PAC-sponsored coffee and tea as well as an informal meet and greet with me in the gym.

The first FULL DAY of school is Wednesday, September 9th. The welcome bell goes at 8:27 a.m. and classes conclude at 2:30 p.m.

Kindergarten parents, please find information below regarding your child’s gradual entry.

So, where do students go on the first day?

I look forward to meeting our new families, re-connecting with returning families, and accomplishing great things together this year!

CHANGE A LIFE…$25 AT A TIME
You will recall that during the last school year, our grade 7 students raised money for charities. Our students also opened a KIVA account and distributed business loans to entrepreneurs in third-world countries. Many of these loans and currently being repaid and we have close to $300 USD in our account. View our Kiva Page here! We would like to put that money to work over the summer. Here’s how you can help: go to KIVA.ORG, quickly research a loan you would like to fund, then write the FULL NAME and country of the entrepreneur in the COMMENTS section below. We will fund the FIRST 12 LOANS OF $25 THAT ARE POSTED.

Go ahead…change a life, $25 at at time! We are waiting to hear from you!

  1. Hi Mr. Vendramin and the staff at Cambridge Elementary!

This is Trista Henriksen. I am joining your school in a couple of weeks. I will be in Grade 5 and my brother, Pauli will be in Grade 2.

I have found someone that would be good to loan $25 to for Kiva. Her name is Manal and she is from Saida, Lebanon. She is a young mom with 2 children. She is providing a good service to others – fruit and veggies – which are important for people to be healthy. She is also very ambitious because she has two businesses.

Thanks for considering my suggestion. See you soon!
    Trista

    • Hi Trista,

It’s wonderful to hear from you. I feel like I kind of know you already since I know your mom so well and I have seen you grow up through pictures!

We are happy you and Paulie are coming to Cambridge. You will love it here!

Thanks for suggesting the Kiva loan. I am looking online and can’t seem to find Manal’s loan. It is possible that the loan has been fully funded already? When that happens, the loan is no longer visible. Can you have a look and let me know? If the loan is gone, please select another and I will find it right away and fund it.

Looking forward to meeting you and Paulie in person. Enjoy the last two weeks of summer!

      Mr. Vendramin
