VIDEO OF THE WEEK: THINGS WE TAKE FOR GRANTED
Life is so busy, sometimes we miss the wonder and awe in some of the simplest things, and we take these things for granted. Experience wonder and awe yourself as you witness Lachlan hear for the first time!

TRACK AND FIELD
Track and Field season is just around the corner! If your child is in grade 3-7 and they are interested in track and field disciplines such as short and long distance running, long jump, triple jump, high jump, discus, and shot put, then they are encouraged to participate. Because of the dedication of so many Cambridge staff members, we are fortunate to be able to offer all these events to students. Thank you teachers!!!

A meeting was held a week ago and permission forms were given to students. If your child did not attend and is still interested, please see the office for a form.

Practices begin the week of May 4 and will continue for the month of May. Near the end of the month, students who can achieve District standards will be selected to participate in the District Track Meet at Bear Creek Park on June 3. If your child is selected for this event, a separate permission form will be given to them later in May.

CAMBRIDGE WELCOMES VISITORS
If there is something we know about education, it’s that when you start to do things a little differently, it attracts attention. Educators are constantly looking to innovate in order to improve the work they do in schools and in the end, positively impact student learning.

This past week, we were humbled to host visitors from various Districts in eastern Canada, as well as representatives from Discovery Education. They were curious to learn more about our use of FreshGrade, implementation of “hands-on” practices and maker spaces, and the use of Discovery Education online resources.

We were proud to share the work of our students and staff, and we hope our continued work contributes to that being done elsewhere.

CLASS PLACEMENT REQUESTS FOR 2015-16
Shortly, we will begin the VERY TENTATIVE process of organizing classes for the 2015-16 school year. If you would like to make a request about your child’s placement for next year, please put this in writing and submit your letter to Mr. Vendramin by May 15. Requests may include a description of a preferred learning environment or details about your child. Parents may not request a particular teacher by name.

Parent requests will be one part of our decision-making process as we work collaboratively to create the best possible learning environments for all students.
